My '61 was built Dec. 7, 1960. I am being told that for that date my T-10 should have a cast iron Front vs. aluminum, which I am told was not used until around Dec. 20. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Re: 61 Trans Front
And exactly who is telling you that? It's interesting that we've been observing that for two decades to try and nail down a cutoff point, and still haven't been able to do that definitively. I'd love for someone to give me serial number input and help determine when the change was made and when it appeared for sure on the line.- Top

Re: 61 Trans Front
Does yours already have an aluminum case? If so, what are the dates on the case? Should be cast in to the pass side, MAIN case is the only one of interest, but side cover and tail would also be good to know....Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 61 Trans Front
The comment about a cast iron Front came from Darrell at JT Piper. He said that the earliest he had seen an aluminum front was Dec. 20. However, the NCRS judgung standards say anything after VIN #2400 is aluminum. My car is #4375 but it is Dec. 7. Hence my confusion. My car does not current have a BW T-10 (muncie), so I am trying to find a correct replacement.- Top
