    63 heater differences

What are the differences between the 63 heater and 64-67? I'm referring to the inner and outer boxes and deflectors/diffusers, etc. I know there's an additional small rectangular deflector in the one corner--what about the lower Y-shaped deflector, etc.?

    Mike -

I'm not as familiar with '63 as I am with '64-'67, but I believe the '63 heater differs in these areas, maybe other areas as well - folks more familiar with the '63 details will probably chime in:

Engine side blower housing configuration is different and uses foam seals around the core pipes, motor has undercoat/deadener on it (?).

Door actuating linkage on top of the inside case is different.

Y-duct (at the outlet) is different, and has the angled diffuser.

I believe that the outer cover (engine bay side) is different, slightly, perhaps something to do with extra (or missing) gussets.... The motors may be different too beyond the undercoating... My 63 motor has the copper connectors externally mounted while repro motors I have seen have a hole where the connector plugs into.

I have a Paragon Repro outer cover (and my original) which I could photograph if that would help.

Don't forget the defrost/air control mechanism changed on the inner box in Apr/May 63. Certainly have to mention the unique to 63 duct extension (snout) to the left of the y-duct; I know of at least two versions but know not the reasons. Is not the engine side fan motor capacitor unique to 63 as well?

Years ago I bought was supposed to be an NOS '63 outer heater fan motor. The thing came full of black tar - like undercoating all over it. Quite a mess, but I believe now to be correct.
