    1974 Radio Convector Testing

I have a 74' with the stereo radio that does not work. Antenna connections/ ground plane,/ground strap at antenna seem visually to be fine and radio gets power. No noise at all on left side and hissing nosie, no sound on right side at full volume. No difference on AM or FM.

I want to start by checking the convector (if possible) as it is easy to get to and it wouild seem like a possible cause of my problems

Does anyone know how to check (troubleshoot) the convector to see if it is bad? Any kind of resistance check or voltage output check possible either installed or removed?

Has anyone had similar problem in the past with these same symptions and if so what was done to fix the radio?

    Re: 1974 Radio Convector Testing

There's no easy fix for a radio and it is unlikely bothhtransistors are bad. You need to know how to check transistors. It sounds like you have an open connection in your radio. It could be as simple as corroded contacts on your band selector or even more problems. Pull your radio & convector & send to a repair shop would be my advise for a novice.
