    2009 Zr1-2009 Zr6

I am getting the model numbers of new corvettes the mixed around in my head..

I think that the ZR1 is the 630 odd horsepower car that is due out in the fall and I think that the ZR6 is the 500 or so horsepower car that is out now and the production of that particular car is limited to 427 cars + 75 or so for europe.

could any one confirm this to me.

Also is there a regular ZR6 that is not the limited production mode.

Also what is everyone hearing about the ZR1 (630 odd HP) inso far as sticker price or premium over sticker.

Can the GM dealers legally sell the car over sticker or do they have to sell at sticker.

I had previously heard one person saying that 15 to 25 over US sticker is the norm.

In the US a Florida dealer would not even take my offer at 15-25 k over sticker or even take a deposit.

I heard today that 60k over sticker has been bandied about.

Couple all of that with the fact that the US sticker for the ZR6 is 85k and the canadian sticker price is 115 k. a 25 k difference to us Canucks. Who knows what it will be in Canada for the ZR1

Has anyone heard any speculation about the GM price which is still yet to be announced.

I would like to get one of the cars but I do not want to just leave a blank cheque. (The last time I brought up this subject it was the opinion of a lot of the ncrs members that I would even be crazy to want one and pay the premium)

Looking for what the scuttlebut is saying as well as if my numbering of the cars is correct.

There is no premium on Z06's. There was a limited edition 427 Z06, but they don't bring a premium either.

The ZR1, on the other hand will bring a strong premium in most showrooms.

Dealers can price cars any way they like, as they're independent business owners; any attempt by manufacturers to prevent them from exercising that pricing flexibility is viewed as "price-fixing" by the Federal Trade Commission.

Smart dealers who want repeat business don't play the "market adjustment" game.

        Don----

As far as I know, GM has not released MSRP on the ZR1 to be introduced this fall. However, speculation is that MSRP will be in the $100,000 range or, maybe, just below that. Additional mark-up will likely be driven by market demand.

There is absolutely no law I know of anywhere, certainly not federal or State of California (where I live), which mandates that cars not be sold above MSRP. A lot of people think that, though. However, everyone thinks it's ok if dealers have to sell cars UNDER MSRP.

I think GM's Saturn Division has some sort of "no dicker sticker" policy for selling cars, though. However, I did notice that when many Saturn dealers finally got their first hot-selling car, the Sky Roadster, they found EXTREMELY CREATIVE ways of getting around that policy.

It sure does sound and idle different than a regular 6.2L or a Z06.

No, it was way more than that.
Technically drove it twice. First time about 20 feet, second time all the way up and down the show floor.

This past April I took the factory tour that I won at the 2007 National Convention. The tour person was Mr Thomas Hill one of the top people at the plant. We went places were the regular tour doesn't go, well I asked to see the new ZR1's and sure enough, we saw, touched, and I looked at the Vin. numbers on them. After these cars were loaded into a car hauler and sent to the proving grounds to be tested, driven then crushed!!!!!!!!!!! All I could say what a great car.!!!!!
