Original usage of this Borg Warner?

    Hello,

What type of car origianally used this transmission? Unfortunately the Muncie is not present in my 1964 Corvette and I found this cast iron unit instead. It looks like it was manufactured in 1969, but I wonder where it came from.

    Main case casting: C-13-69 T10-1B W.G.DIV
    Main case stamping: WE1992
    Extension casting: GS Q1 Q-2
    Extensioin casting: T10-K WGDIV D-14-68

You could have guessed it -- the shifter is a Hurst Competition Plus.

    Thanks,
    Keith

The T-10-1B case was used on Chevrolet and Corvettes from late 1959 to early 1961. However, this case was manufactured well after that time for SERVICE. This transmission may have started life as a SERVICE unit.

I have no recollection of ever seeing a T-10-K extension housing. At least, I don't think that one was ever used on a Corvette or Chevrolet. However, BW T-10 transmissions were used on many Ford and Chrysler applications way after they ceased to be used on GM products. So, it's possible that this unit, or components thereof, originally resided on a Ford or Chrysler product. I have no familiarity with how those units differed from the Chevrolet variety. I do seem to recall that Ford and Chrysler used the cast iron main cases, though, even after GM ceased to do so for later T-10's (through mid 1963).

The location of the "T10-1B" identification on the main case says it was originally in a later non-Chevrolet application.
