I recently came across a 63 with a non original block in it. Interestingly however, it is the correct casting - 3782870 and is properly dated for the car, A3 63, the car is a March 63 build. The pad on the block has the characters TO2I9R with no vin. Pad surface and characters appear untouched post the factory. Has anyone seen something like this before? Could this be a warranty block that was put in early in the car's life? Any information appreciated. Richie

T stand for Tonawanda. Should be an F for Flint. F0219R.
So basically the engine would be just as you said . A service replacement engine with little value for us here. Good for a driver though. John D.- Top

Re: 63 warranty replacement block?
John:
My guess is that this engine was not a warranty replacement, but someone's attempt at installing a "correct" dated block in the car. Even though it is not "correct" being a passenger engine.
Did the owner offer any history with the car ?? Anything is possibe, but again, my guess is it is a swap meet replacement.Tom Hendricks
