    86 Distributor question

The 84-86 judging manual states the distributor datecode on the aluminum housing is read day, month, and year. The example used is 16K5 for October 16, 1985. The datecode stamp on my 86 is 6E19. This was interpreted at a local meet as May 19, 1986 which would be correct for my car but in conflict with the manual. Is this an update that is needed in the judging manual?

The usual Delco-Remy date code sequence is as you have found on your distributor. I don't recall ever seeing a Delco-Remy date code that was day-month-year. There may well have been some, though.
