I just ordered the 4 cones for my '61. I know that they were only installed on the '62s but I had trouble with items in the trunk sliding around and hitting the light sockets. I can always take the cones off for judging. My question is: How do you get them to stay on the housing? Noland Adams book states that they just press on to the housing with the top tab in the top screw stud and the wiring going through the notch in the bottom of the cone. All but one keeps poping off. What do you '62 owners use? wire or rubber bands?

Re: 1962 Tail Light Protector Cones
You need to carefully gather the wires together and bend them around the wiring socket. Then slide the cone over the upper tab with the lower wiring from the harness coming thru the slot. Be very careful with brittle old wiring. Look for cracks in the insulation and use small pieces of electrical tape to repair. Careful with the wiring socket to not break anything. jf 62 vette- Top

Re: 1962 Tail Light Protector Cones
I have found that the originals stay on much better than the repos. The material used is thicker and not as soft as the repos. Finding originals isn't easy but worth it. Rich- Top
