    Back to the question of configuration on the rag joint. Original tele rag joints are riveted on both sides. The lower flange is 'flat". On non-tele, both flanges look the same and one side is riveted and the other side is bolted. I have attached pictures of both.




    The tele version would be difficult to rebuild like the original because of the use of rivets. You can rebuild with bolts and achieve a functional unit - although the bolts may interfere with access to the clamp bolt.

        The part you're looking for, GM #5692974, was discontinued without supercession in April, 1973. That's 35 years ago. I don't think you'll find too many NOS examples around by this time. However, it's possible that one might show up on eBay from time-to-time. If so, though, it would probably sell for Big $$$ with a flurry of last second bidders.

        As far as I know, it's not currently reproduced. That's not surprising. Only about 7,900 cars were ever made that used it.
