I can only speak for 1968-1972 regarding the heavy duty differential with M40. I don't know about the other M40 applications.
Do what I do.....take the ol' ZO6 out on a back country road where there's nobody around, and watch the tenseness go up in smoke as the melted rubber on the pavement takes all that stress away!!!! Better than a bubble bath!!! Wheeler Road by our house has so many frustration marks on it, it's just insane!!! LOL!!! Although MY tires are a tad cheaper than yours..........

And my '70 300/M20 has the white speedo gear in it, and it has to be way off....mine's a CAM 3:36 car. One of these days I'll figure out why it's off, or what gear it should have. I'm bloowing the doors off of other cars on the road and I'm only showing 50 MPH.....

Interesting that your '69 CAW rearend also has u-bolts. My '69 427 car also has a CAW rear with u-bolts too. It is a late car 11/69. According to the guide the C prefix was only for late '69 and '70 cars. Otherwise it would just be AW.

        Jamie,
My cast date is G 3 8, which I suppose is July 3rd, 1968 and I have a 7 leaf rear sping. It also looks like the bolts have been removed/replaced, so
I assume the rear end to NOT be original. I took a couple of pics of the stamping and will post if they are readable so everyone can comment. Again the stamping looks to be "OAW198E3", with the O possibly being a C and the 1 could be an I. The 1 or I clipped off at the top, so you do not know if it is a 1 or I. At this point I do not really care if it is not the original rearend, I just would like to positively know what I have.

        Regards,
        Joe
