I just finished restoring the frame and suspension of my 68 L68. I am the 4th owner and have all the paper work on the car since 1974. The previous owner (a close friend) replaced the tank just before I purchased it.(I didn't know) Of course the build sheet was missing. I have seen ads for reproduction sheets. Does this help or just keep documenting the restoration and keep all the orginal papers.
No build sheet??

Re: No build sheet??
Value when you go to sell has as much to do with where you are trying to sell the car. If you are in the back woods or at Carlisle or one of the Corvette auctions the price could be more. If you have paper work where a big block only part was replaced on a work order it would also help to prove the original motor.Lyle

Re: No build sheet??
The corvettes' achilles' heel in terms of value is it's lack of DNA in it's legal nomenclature (VIN , cowl/fender tags etc.). This is why you rarely see a Vette advertised as a clone or recreation. Even though values will vary somewhat by the sales venue selected. Authenticity is what usually commands the highest consistent values. This can only be achieved with original factory/dealer paperwork and corroborated with owner histories and legal affidavits.
With respect to the economy, these rare documented cars, much like ultra exclusive real estate, rare artwork, or antiques are not much affected because they are sought after by people who are insulated from economic fluctuations.
I agree with the view that a repro tank sticker would raise more questions than give answers for resale purposes but would be a neet display addition at the local show/cruise.- Top
