    Stabilizer Bar Bushings

I have just received my new front stabilizer bar bushings (poly) for my '59. When I install the bushing in the U-bracket and set it on top of the stabilizer bar spacer there is a 5/16" gap between the flanges. Is this correct? Do I just pull it down with the bolts? This seems like it would put the bar in a bind.
The U-bracket and spacer are original and the bushings are for use in the original brackets.

Also, when installing the bar the ends have a slight angle to them. Is the angle supposed to go up or down? I am guessing down for proper angle for the stabilizer link. I can't tell by looking at the AIM.

    Thoughts?

    Bob,

The stabilizer bar end bends go up. If they are reversed, the stab links cannot be installed correctly. I attached a picture of one with the bar in upside down, when I got it. I since corrected it and also installed poly bushings. I don't remember how big the gap had to compress, but there was some compression needed. I think it will be fine if you tighten it down. The poly bushings make a nice upgrade in handling.

Thanks David. I will be pulling the body back off hopefully over the 4th of July to finish everything underneath and I will try just cranking it down.
