'61 Distributer Hold Down

What is the correct distributor hold down for '61, 283/230 ? There are two listed in parts catalog- one "flat" and one "wire-style".

All of my original straight axle cars had the Flat style.

Opps, please check that, they were wire style. Flat style is the replacement.

Richard, Not an easy question it seems. Now I am not that up on 61's but as far as the FI restos goe I use the pie shaped flat steel ones on 57 to 60. Then I use the wire types on 61 to 65. Don't know if that is correct though but I don't seem to get complaints. John

61 and 62 were definitely the wire type.

57 FI distributor hold downs were wire type. Gary....

The more expensive and higher quality A-shaped flat holddowns were used early on and sometime into the 1960 model year when they were replaced with the cheapie wire type. So, you should see the wire type from about mid-1960 model year on. - Bob

1960 #3714 (built in Feb. 1960) has a flat one.

Right or wrong, the 58-60 judging guide says that the wire types were not used on Corvettes.

57 FI distributor hold downs were wire type. Gary....

When I was a kid we threw the wire type away and put on the good heavy duty steel ones.

The pictures in the assembly manual and Noland Adams book clearly show the flat hold downs for the 56-57's. I never saw a wire one until the 60's on a pass. cars.

For me all C1's used the flat design BUT 62 ??? I never owned a 62
