Re: Floods in Missouri
It is God's way of punishing us for driving our gas guzzling behemoths from yesteryear.
The convention next year will be strictly limited to the car depicted here:

Actually one of our directors owns several of those cars. I have ridden in one on the pond on his farm. Not quite Corvette league handeling, but fun in a different sort of way.The convention next year will be strictly limited to the car depicted here:

I like my calamity with hot sauce. Maybe some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
Besides, if we all start to cry crocodile tears, it will only exacerbate the flooding conditions.

I'm sure Dick W. could come up with one if we need it.

Re: Floods in Missouri
Yes, we sympathize with the flooded folks in Missouri & Illinois, but that's down river and we just experienced the same thing, like Wisconsin.
All this 2 weeks after record breaking destructive tornados.
If we feel any emotion about the floods, it would be directed toward the Corpse of Engineers, who, according to NBC supervised the narrowing of the river channel from 5 miles wide in that area down to 2 miles wide and then having 17 of the levies breech.

Not much of a car and not much of a boat either. During a summer college job, my boss had an Amphicar.
After the weekend, he came in STEAMING! His teenage son had 'borrowed' it (without permission of course) to impress a girlfriend. He drove it into the lake WITHOUT locking the water tight doors (move the handles the opposite way) and SUNK the sucka!- Top

Re: Floods in Missouri
You know, what really bothers me about such reports is when you see video on the news of a nice C-2 under a caved in garage, or a C-3 that's been tossed a few blocks by Hurricane or Tornadic winds, and then there's the C-1 in water up to it's windshield. Now that's the stuff that really get's my sympathies going. However, I find comfort in the thought that, oh well, it just adds to the rarety and value of my 63.
There now, how's that for cold heartlessness? Ha!

Re: Floods in Missouri
I don't believe our NCRS members in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois or other areas affected by these floods expect ANY crocodile tears from anyone Joe, BUT I doubt they were looking (or expecting) some of you to treat the flood as a Saturday Night Live affair either!! Actually kind of shocked by some of our members statements here on this post, as I'm sure others are also.
I personally thought Steven asked a question that was appropriate and on many of our members mind with the 2008 National only about a month away.
Hopefully most people affected by the floods got most their valuables (not just their Vettes) to higher ground. And yes many of us on here have those affected in our thoughts.
Shooter
P.S. Maybe Joe you need to save those crocodile tears for next time you go to the store and some of your supplies have doubled because of the flood.- Top
