    327 non-threated snout crankshaft

I am working on a 1964 327 350 HP engine and it has the 8" balancer. Should it have the crankshaft that is threaded in the snout or the one that his not threaded for a balancer bolt? I think it has been suggested that the only the base engines had the unthreaded cranks. Are the snout lengths the same for both crankshafts?
    Thank You

The 350 HP engine did not go into production until the '65 model year.

All 327 cranks are from the same two forgings, but the 250/300 HP versions used a pressed-on 6" torsional damper and do not have a threaded nose.

All SHP/FI, 340-375 HP version crankshafts have the threaded nose for the center bolt that retains the 8" damper and have the Tufftride surface hardening treatment.

AFAIK the finished cranks are the same dimensions except for the threaded nose, and a 250/300 crankshaft will accept the 8" balancer if the nose is properly drilled/tapped for the center bolt.

      Thank you Duke

I assume the 64 365 HP solid lifter engine would also have a threaded crankshaft and the 8 " balancer as well?

Yes, 340, 350, 360, 365, and 375 HP engines have the Tufftrided, drilled nose crankshaft version and the 8" balancer.
