    correct seat belts for 1960

    Hello,
Looking for more information on correct seat belt webbing for a 1960. TM&JG states a 6-panel weave, but wondering if the understanding of what is original has changed since the TJ&JG was published. I searched the archives and found threads for model years 1958 (4-panel) and 1962 (4 or 6 panel--both referenced as correct). I would like to search for correct seat belts at Bloomington Gold this weekend and need to know what to look for.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,

1958 used the four panel hammertone, no other colors. 1959-61 used the six panel. 1962 went back to four panel. All but 1958 had colors to match the interior. This is well enough known from innumerable original cars that it is not going to change. The only thing that my be tweaked is exactly when the 4-panel was introduced for the 62.

The six-panel is tough to find. Snake Oyl sells the material for $400 with no hardware. There is some guy out there who is apparently making an excellent six-panel, but is hit or miss. He was at Carlisle 2-3 years ago and had the six-panel for $300 with buckles already on, although the buckle paint is not quite right. I think some of these prices may have gone up.

You can order a correct set from Paragon but it takes 12-16 months to get them. They get them from Sunwest in Texas.

Bob is correct on the webbing. I know its aways fun to look at swap meets, but if you strike out call Charlie Santorelli @ Seat Belt Sity 908-719-2354. He usally has extra piece parts and can stich it all up for you too.
