How does the corvette '53 powerglide differ from the '53 passenger car transmission. Are they the same main case. Can the passenger main case be used in a corvette.Thanks, Steven J.

53 vette PG uses an open drive shaft .53 Chevy pass car PG mates to a torque tube(chevy pass cars didn't go to open drive shafts till 1955). hence the tail shaft and tail shaft housings are totally differnet(53 vet vs 53 pass car).mike- Top

(YES!the same) also some people that had to changed the rear end of a 53-54 Corvette to a later 55 up Corvette having a open drive shaft can use a 55 up 6 banger PG.from a car complete .But you need a open drive shaft too.- Top
