1957 Corvette Radio-Were Motorolas Installed?

I have had my '57, number 1286, since Nov. 1964. I am the 4th owner and when I got it a Motorola with black and chrome plastic nobs was installed. The 2nd and 3rd owners told me it was in the car when they bought it-the 2nd owner bought it in 1961. I saw number 1285 and it had the same radio. Were these possibly dealer or factory installed due to inventory shortage?

Motorolas never factory installed. dealers could have put any aftermarket radio in. mike

I found it odd that sequential VINs had the same non-Wonder Bar. I have seen a couple of others, all below VIN 1800.

In the 50's and 60's, I had a friend who owned a car radio shop. His primary business was selling and installing Motorola radios in new radio-delete cars. it was located in Buckingham Alley in Flint, Michigan. He had many repeat customers who felt the sound quality was better.
