    Re: 64 Heater Hoses

Question about the tie/clamps that hold the hoses together: in my 63 AIM the pc 11 is listed as pn 3136626. In the 64 AIM, pc11 is listed as pn 3136266 with note 'NPC 396' next to the pn. Was this a typo? Do both 63 and 64 use the aluminum ties? When did the metal snap clamps come into use? What would be considered correct for a Mar 64 car? Thanks in advance

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

      Dan;

My understanding is, as usual, there may have been some overlap. But the JG says the straps are for 63 and the clips are for 64's, so I imagine that is what they would go by in judging with some consideration for early 64 production. Yours being March 64, may be not.

p.s. I still have my original heater hoses and they are both ribbed. Don't spect I'll every use them again, but they make good conversation pieces on the coffee table. Yuk!

Thanks Stu, but the AIM pn's are still bothering me, latest date on the 64 AIM page for heater hoses is in Apr. Were these pn's just a typo or had the clamps changed by then? Does anyone have a 65 AIM and could look up the pn for the clamps that hold the non-air heater hoses together?
        63 pn 3136626
        64 pn 3136266
        65?
Thanks guys, just trying to get a feel for when they went from alum hose ties to the steel clamps in 64?

The '65 A.I.M. shows the 3770259 snap-on clip, and indicates that it replaced the 3136266 per a change dated 3/19/65. Only one was used, aft of the "tee".

Thanks John, that should be a good guidance for 64 clamps, looks like the alum ties were still being installed. Any ideas on why the difference between the 63 and 64 pn? Looks like the 64 one was corrected from the 63.

Thank you to all for the help with the hoses. The pix are great and I found the pix in Nolands book.

I've had a few original hoses, some NOS, some excellent used. Still have a few. I've learned that there is no such thing as "one size has the GM and the other has grooves.
There were a few sources for these hoses and each had it's own ID. Some had the GM logo and others had grooves.
It's entirely possible to see an original set on any 63-67 car with NO GM logo, at all. It was usually a random assortment of GM/grooved on one car.
The reproduction hose GM logo hoses mostly have the wrong color and incorrect GM character style. Long story.

Owners should have a choice. GM or grooved for any/all hoses. (my choice would definitely be grooves)

Unlike a typical 63-65 reproduction hose, the original GM logo was so faint, it was difficult to see, even when new.
The 66 and later GM was more pronounced, although a different color.

Hey Jon, Check out this post on heater hoses from Michael Hanson. Too bad he isn't on here anymore as his posts were some of my favorites. JD
