    63 washer bottle

    Is the 63 washer bottle a one year only, or the same as 64-67. I think an original 63 cap have no writhing on them, is this true. Gary.

    I can't say for sure if the 63 bottle is unique. I don't believe it is. All I have with me today is the fourth edition judging manual and it states that the cap is smooth and is to have no instructional lettering on it.

      Gary;

      Check in the archives about this. Believe the subject was touched upon about a month or so ago. I believe the same bottle was used for a number of years for the C-2's. I still have my original for my 63, but I replaced it with a repro some time ago due to it's grundgy appearance. I seldom ever look at it as the last time I used my washers was in the 1990's. I only used my wipers once last year in a brief shower. I have new correct blade inserts and I don't want to waste them, Ha!

        1963 used the same washer reservoir as most 64-67 without C-60. It was a white, opaque, polypropylene plastic jar of GM #3840083. The cap, GM #3798372, was also the same as 64-67 although there may have been nuance differences such as "writing" or "no writing", etc.

        The GM #3840083 jar is still available from GM as is the GM #3798372 cap. No guarantees on "writing" or other nuances of correctness, though.

          63's used two variations or styles of caps. The rare one is the brownish opague one. My Feb-March car came with that one. Very fragile part and typically the tab breaks very easy. Ken Amrick was very kind and gave me a nice mint brownish one for my 63. Typical ones though are smooth black-no script. Either one will do.
          On ebay see a guy selling the black smooth ones. The GM ones have script.
          The washer bottle is 63 to 67 etc. Inexpensive GM replacements are just that as usual. Be on the look out for an original filthy yellow one at the flea markets. Wash it in the dishwasher and they come out very nice. Originals had a logo on the seam. By the way the caps will NOT interchange. Meaning if you have a replacement washer bottle with real deal lid forget it. The 5th spells out the correct strainer material. Think it's copper but forget. Big thing is make sure the washer squirts period or suffer major hit on ops. John
