    Authentic 58-62 Courtesy Lamp Switch Gasket Material

    Truthfully, the only rubber courtesy gaskets I have seen were made as "reproductions" in the post C1 era. Thin rubber by Corvettes suppliers, and thick rubber by 55-57 Chevy suppliers.
    The part number remained the same 58-62 and is the same one in my 1938-1963 P&A catalog.

    So am I wrong? Were there 2 different kinds or has the good book been fooled by a repro part?

      Doc;
      I have attached a few pictures of the gasket from the courtesy light switches on my 62 SN 2299.
      They are each around 0.095" thick and are not rubber. One side had 2 gaskets on the switch and the one pictured broke when I tried to remove it. I left the other one on the switch.
      It is hard and appears layered as you can see in the picture.
      This car is a mess but it has never been restored and much of it has not been apart. Wrong engine, trans etc., but lots of fun.

        During the National at Steamboat Springs (was it really that long ago??), Mr. Johnson of Arkansas offered up a 1960 for Bowtie consideration. As I recall, it was the ONLY straight axle car offered for Bowtie, so the traffic around the car was terrific....and it was, and is, a great car.
        I loved one aspect and had to corral and comment on it - the RH door courtesy light switch had at least 7 "layers" behind it to make it work. Wouldn't wash in "Trailer Queen Company", but there it was.
