John, Thanks for the good info. Those wires sound like a winner for a driver for sure. Are the teminal ends for the Distr cap 90's? JD

      Jerry,
That's awfully good mpg. I'm impressed. The best I got on my return trip from California last month was 17.1mpg for a flat stretch in Iowa. The only thing blasting was the wind through the windows. I am jealous of your A/C. My avg speed was closer to 75 for that stretch so I can't complain.

I didn't go through your part of California on the return trip. We were kind of like the pony heading back to the barn, going faster as we got closer. I'm just happy that we made it California and back without a Bust!

      Cheers

Dennis, my 64 FI has the 90 degree at the distributor, can you still get 90's to keep the original look? Thanks again.

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

if you can not get 90 degree wires you can buy in buy 90 degree terminals and boots at the auto parts and change the distribtor ends on the wires. the special pliers you will need to install the terminals are also available

            John -

Give them a call at (909) 599-6424 and ask what they can provide at the distributor cap end; the wires are their "Stock Look" 7mm black wires, #708101 for Corvettes.

Good hi-performance or street wire. Just like we used in the 60's. However, the solid core wire causes radio static when the engine is running. Unless you have sidepipes, in which case you can't hear the radio anyway.

Is there a 'Best' fully assembled, good looking, (no red boots) wire set available with the solid core. I have a radio delete car, so there is no shielding, etc....and no need for noise suppression. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TVRS printed on the originals was an acronym for "Television Radio Supression" and was the result of autos interfering with TV reception in the early 1950's. Still a Federal law today, and likely more important with the proliferation of emergency services communications.
