Early 1976 Hood Insulation

I am looking for a NOS or excellent used Hood insulation for a 10/75 production 1976 L-82. I see the repros, but it appears these differ greatly from the originals. Can someone please comment on that topic, as well as suggest places to start looking for one. I cant find anything in the JG that differentiates between the E-76 and the L-76. WERE there any differences?

I'm sure there were differences but I don't know what they were. In any event, early 1976 Corvettes used hood insulator GM #362960. This includes your car since this piece was used until very late in the model year and your car is very early.

I know of no source for a true reproduction of this piece. Unfortunately, most used examples will likely be in rough shape.

There is still a replacement available from GM, although not under the original part number. In fact, this MAY be the "reproduction" piece that's being sold. It's GM #472800 and it runs about 200 bucks, GM list. The 472800 is actually the insulation used in PRODUCTION for L1978-79 Corvettes. So, if you can find an original L-78-79, you can see what the piece looks like and how it differs from yours.
