    Core Support ID- X Brace???

I have a '69 427/400 car. I'm not sure if the radiator core support is the original, or correct. How do I ID it? Is there a part number on it? It has the X-brace rods welded on it. I don't think that is right for a '69 BB.
    Thanks in advance!

There is no part number to be found on any Corvette radiator support that I'm aware of. So, you can't expect any help there.

There were 2 different radiator support designs used for 1969 across all applications. The first design MAY have used the cross-braces for some or all applications. I'm not sure at the moment. The second design definitely did not use the cross braces for any application. If your car was manufactured prior to ABOUT February, 1969, it was probably equipped with the first design support. In that case, it may or may not have used the cross braces. If manufactured after February, 1969, then it definitely did not have the cross braces.

Most, if not all, 1968 radiator supports do have the cross braces. However, the 1968 and 1969 supports are NOT functionally interchangeable.

If you could post photos of the support we might be able to ID it.

If you are posting pictures, then post a close shot of the bottom end of one of the x brace rods, where it is fastened to the support.

Thanks Joe (s)! I had a feeling. The car had a cut in half shroud on it, so I found a nice correct (119) used one and put it in the other day. The lower right shroud mounting bolt did not line up, It was about an inch off towards the center of the car on a square plate. So I though something was up. The finish on the support didn't match the rest of the car either, too shiney.
As a side note I read all the posts about putting in a shroud AFTER I did it. I did get it in without removing the support, hood or the A-arms. I angle the rad up to the drivers side, and the shroud up to the pass side. Slipped them down slowly together and kinda push the shroud around the pass A-arm. Got it in, but what a p.i.t.a.
So it looks like I'm going to do it all again soon. Are all the repro core supports pretty much the same? Seems like everyone got the supposed correct one for my car.

A related question... I noticed that on a lot of parts site they list a fan shroud for '69 Big Block with A/C and 70-71 w/o A/C fan shroud. Then they list the small blocks with a different shroud.
          What about a '69 427 w/o A/C? What Shroud?

1969 L-36, L-68, or L-71 without C-60 use fan shroud GM #3956119 in conjunction with extension GM #3956089. The same shroud was used for C-60 applications, too, although a different extension was utilized with it.
