    68 A/C Blower Switch

Hi Forum, New to this site but not to NCRS - I'm presently working on a 68 300 hp, auto with A/C coupe - it appears blower switch is malfunctioning. Paragon and others show a 69-76 switch for a/c cars but nothing for 68.

Does anyone know the difference between the 2 switches.?
    Thanks.
    Ron

    Re: 68 A/C Blower Switch

I have not seen an 68 with A/C. However looking at a 1981 Corvette parts book I found the following
    68-69 W/AC part #3870286 $2.90 Switch,HTR and A/C Blo Low (Push button type W/2 term.

The switch for 69-76 W/AC part #3942657 $5.25 Switch, Blo Mtr (6 terminals)

Does your 68 have a push button blower switch? My 68, no air, has the same looking type of switch as my 70 with air. Don't know how many terminals my 68 switch has.

      Re: 68 A/C Blower Switch

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
      68 with a/c and without a/c = 3-speed switch
      69 and up with a/c = 4-speed switch
      69 and up without a/c = 3-speed switch
I believe you can use the 69 and up without a/c for the 68 with a/c.

          Ron,

          My '68 327/300 w/ A.C. has a 3 speed switch.

As per the J.G. (page 11) "All 1968's and non-airconditioned 1969s have three speed blower switches. 1969 air-conditioned cars have four blower speeds."

          Hope this helps,
          Anthony

            Re: 68 A/C Blower Switch

Anthony the 69 and later air conditioned Corvettes, my 70 has it anyway, have a separate in line fuse in the engine compartment near the brake master cylinder that supplys power for the higher fourth speed from the blower switch in the console. The other three speeds share a fuse in the fuse block. Disconnect the in line fuse and the fourth speed will not function.
