Correct top dash color for 1970 light saddle

I've noticed something odd about several C3's with light or medium saddle interiors. On some, the upper dash pad is the same shade as the rest of the interior soft parts, and on others, the dash appears to be a darker shade.

Any idea which is correct? More to the point, should the top dash on my 1970 with standard Light Saddle interior be Light Saddle, or a darker shade?

    Thanks.

C3s through at least 1972 had interior pieces the same color (or close). There will often be slight differences with some colors as they may not have come from the same dye lot. Saddle is one that often varies by a shade or two among all the dyed vinyl components. It is not intentionally a darker shade. Somewhere about 1976 or so, the top dash piece did become a brown to lessen glare.

The dark saddle top dash on light saddle cars started in 1973 MY.

          Hello,
I have a light saddle deluxe interior in my 70 and
the dash pad is on the lighter side. Strangely enough are
the vinyl sides of the tunnel, the center console and the dash
are on the lighter side as well, only the grain seems to be quite
noticeable, as if the grain was a medium brown. The door panel vinyl
matches the dash pad in color. Very odd.

Hi, Joe. Is your interior all original GM? Your description matches my interior, but I know mine's a mix of original and reproduction (Corvette America) pieces.

It would be nice to know my interior's look could be considered "original"

FWIW my 70 pieces are close in shade. The dash is a tad darker.http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ette102008.jpg

                Hello,

Yes, my interior is all original GM. No reproduction yet.
However, I need to find some kind of repair kit for my door panel armrests.

I found a car online with nearly the identical interior as mine.
I still need to take the hardtop off mine before I can post pics.
It's been on for 23 years! It seems I can only attach one photo
at a time and I have three. So look for the following:

                    No.2

Notice all the different shades of tan on components.

                      No.3

                      Notice the darker grain.
