    Fast Idle for '59 270hp

I'm almost embarrassed to ask this question.....but here goes......Can someone please write me a step-by-step description on how to adjust the fast idle on a '59 270hp. I seem to have lost my touch.....or else I short-circuited my brain some how......The proper sequence escapes me.

    (1) Get engine warmed up.
    (2) FORCE the choke fast idle cam onto the step specified in the service manual.
    (3) Adjust fast idle screw to provide the RPM profile specified in the service manual.
    (4) Done.

As a 2x4 owner, you'll undoubtedly have more questions later about taking care of those WCFB's; there's virtually nothing about them in the ST-12, but the 1961 Passenger Car Shop Manual has an excellent section on them, with rebuild instructions and all the adjustments - it's available from the on-line store at the top of the page.

        Brad,
You may want to go to this site, it has some info on WCFB's.

You guys wouldn't believe what the issue was all about.....I had removed and was cleaning my carbs for the Nationals this weekend. When I had issues with setting up the fast idle....I wrote this forum. You two fine gentlemen gave me some leads. I went straight to my ST-12 and looked at the picture of the single four setup. That's when it hit me like a ton of bricks! My lever on the end of the choke shaft was facing the rear of the car, unlike in the picture. Duh...... Everything was working in reverse! When I flipped it around....everything worked just fine! You know.....I seriously think Alzheimers is starting to set in....

Thanks to you guys offering some simple help....all is well in my world! Thats why I like this forum so much.....
