    soft top latchs 1960

I had my latchs rechromed but when they are in the open position there is a small spot under latch that did not get fully chromed it is not real bad but you can see it if you look real hard, I called chrome company and they said that this is the only way they can be done unless they are taken apart( don't know if that is possible) has anyone ran into this before thanks Michael

They have to make an electrical connection 'somewhere' on the part in order to execute the re-plating process. Generally, platters use a 'best efforts' approach as to where they attach the wire (find a relatively non-visible surface).

Sounds to me like the platter is saying he could have completely hidden the attaching point IF he'd pulled the hinge pin and put his wire(s) inside the hinge pin bearing surface, then re-worked the bearing surface after the plating process and re-installed a fresh hinge pin. That's a LOT of extra labor!

        Michael.
The same thing showed on a pair of latches I had done some 15 + years ago at a plating shop. They looked good ,but the chrome did'nt cover the whole spot under the latch.
And yes, they can be taken apart and plated-show chrome . I just had mine done along with alot of other chrome work. A little extra labor and cost..(about $30-$40 more) But when they were done and on the car, I thought it was worth it ..they look great on my "58.
