    Re: Happy Birthday Joe

    This is the kind of thread it is best to read after one has had their dinner. I made it all the way through with no problem at all.

    Happy Birthday Joe. It has been a pleasure chatting with you and being the benefit of your wisdom this past year. May you have many more.

      Hey Joe - for once a non-parts question... what's zazich? Best I've been able to figure out is that it's an Assyrian spread, but I can't find a connection to fennel. Please enlighten us about this guilty pleasure!

      Louis,

      Well............it depends on what part of Itley you come from.
      In some parts of Itley, it's zazich.
      In other parts of Itley, it's zazeeech.

      No matter. Its composed of ground up pig unmentionables, mixed with salt, pepper, funnels or fermaggio, and all packed into a casing otherwise used as a birth control device. Sound appetizing so far.
      Oh, depending on what part of the country it's made, it may or may not contain some homo sapiens flesh.

      Here's an important and related tibit: The thin version, which comes coiled up like so much BX cable, is called "Chevrolets", or, "Chevies" for short.

      Hope this helps.

      Joe

                Yes, I was the guy with THREE lobsters and the large order of steamed clams. Then, afterwards, as you may recall, I went back for ANOTHER large order of steamed clams. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

                  Italian sausage (aka "zazich" or "zazeeech" as the old-time "paisans" would call it) is one of my favorites IF (and ONLY IF) it's made right:

                  1) VERY COURSE GROUND pork (Boston butt is best);

                  2) COURSE ground black pepper;

                  3) salt;

                  4) Fennel SEEDS (never, ever fennel powder; that's for wimps)

                  Sounds very simple, I know, but it takes "the touch" to make it come out right. I do mine patty style; I don't stuff the casings.

                    Jerry----

                    I CAN'T WAIT to get back to that place. I'm COUNTING THE DAYS until I'll be back there again (37 days). Of course, I won't have the great company I had at the "great party", but "I'll get by". I'll be thinking of you all, though, while I'm waiting for the lobster and steamed clams to be done. After they arrive, however, I'll probably be reflecting a lot less----I'll be way too busy and, as you know, way too "intense"!
