    Bowtie process

A friend of mine has an original 68 coupe, bb, auto with 24,000 miles. I am trying to get him to go for a Bowtie certificate. I know he has to present it at a National to get the Bowtie, but what is the process before that? What can be done at a Chapter level and what has to be done at a Regional and in what order? As I understand it, it is not neccesary for the car to receive a Top Flight to receive a Bowtie. Next year's National will only be an hour away, so I'm trying to get him to take it there for the Bowtie.
    Thanks

    Ken,
He needs to take it to a Regional event and have the car reviewed and signed off by the 69/69 Team Leader. (Chuck Berge). While the car is there I would suggest he have the car flight judged. Then he is free to bring it to the National and go for the 1,2,3 stars or the Bowtie (4 stars).

      Ken:

I believe one of the other factors involved in having a car brought to the National Convention for Bowtie judging is the number of cars accepted. While a car may be signed off by the National Team Leader as a possible candidate, only 4 cars can be included in a National Convention Bowtie Division.

The process of pursuing the Star-Bowtie award is described in detail in the NCRS Judging Reference Manual. What others have said regarding prerequisites is bascially true, but my advice is to read the actual NCRS text to fully understand the fine points....

All comments are true but there is more.

The process was amended several years ago to require that a car be judged at a regional before its sign-off, not just examined by the team leader.

The sign-off is only good until the next convention.

As Jack said it is a good idea to read The Judging Reference Manual.
