    AC Plug questions

Thinking about putting plugs and wires on the 66 300HP. The AC R45's and wires are of unknown age and I have a small miss that feeks like ignition.

Are the AC R45 still available? No luck yet. Or should I be considering the 45S which is extended tip? What is the applicatiuon for extended tip?

The AC R45 spark plugs are still available; no problem, at all. In most cases, I would use the R45S in place of R45, though (assuming, of course, that I was using AC spark plugs, at all, which I wouldn't be).

I use R45's in my 65, 327/365hp. Bought them though my local Chevy dealer. Runs great.

I use Champions ONLY. Many years ago I tried all the available brands. I found Champions to run the best. AC spark plugs are actually a "prettier", more refined-appearing spark plug. By contrast, Champions are almost crude-appearing. However, the Champions ran better than AC or any other brand I tried (of course, there are more brands out there now). In a spark plug, performance is far more important than appearance.

The Champion equivalent of the R45 is RJ8C and the R45S is RJ18YC.

Joe, what would be the recommendation for a 327 x 365hp 'Radio Delete'? Obviously I don't need the R.

              Is there such an animal?

Delco has discontinued most of the non-resistor plugs, but NGK and Denso make non-resistor equivalents to the old AC 45 - the B4 and W-14U, respectively.

BTW, Denso plugs have been OE in all Corvette engine since the beginning of the C5 era.

I would use the Champion RJ8C. This is a resistor plug, but I wouldn't be concerned about that, at all.
