    C2 '65 L76 Oilpan Leak Help

    I have a small, persistent drip in the right, rear corner of my oil pan rail located underneath my starter.

    I installed a new, one-piece Fel-Pro O

    The oil pan rails are flat and solid with no apparent distortion from over torqueing. The gasket appears to fit very nicely. My metered orifice is clear.

    Any helping clueing me in is much appreciated!!

    David,
    Before you take anything apart check the valve cover for a small leak. I have experenced the same thing and problem is valve cover. Also, be careful you don't overtorque the oil pan bolts, I think there torque is in.lbs. not ft.lbs. but I can't be positive.

    I am getting ready to take my 63 oil pan off the install the GM rear main seal because I originally put fel pro 2900 and there is a leak so I know how frustrating redo's can be.

      Hello;

      Also look at the back of the intake and oil pressure line.

      If you absolutely can't find the source of the leak there are products to dye the oil which will show up with black light.

      Hope this helps.

      I hope you dance

        Thanks Timothy.

        I'll get back under this weekend. I just got my Restorer and read article about the rear main seal. I probably should consider replacing it if I take the pan off again. Is this pretty straight forward after I get the pan off?
