    '67 factory side exhaust question

Someone on another forum said that you could tell if side pipes were factory installed by the absence of notches in the bird cage where the tabs were for attaching the rocker panels on under-car exhaust. He also said that there are U-shaped hangers for side pipes and a different hanger for under-car exhaust.

I may have this completely turned around because I can't find the other post right now. How do you tell? I looked under my '67 with side pipes (supposedly factory) and see no notches or U-hangers.

    Larry -

There are "notches" at each screw location in the steel sill flange; they were hydraulically pierced with dies, and are almost never duplicated when sidepipes are "added". There were no "U-shaped hangers" on sidepipe cars - the only hanger is the one near the rear of the pipe that goes in the key-slot in the frame.
