    C2 Coker Tires

My first set of Coker tires 215/65 15 were set and balanced but had a hard vibration when driven, I then had then tested when we noticed a high spot and a wobble on all but one tire, Coker replaced them all, but when we tested the 2nd set the same problem appeared as the first set.

Coker told me to drive them for a period to help work them in?

Has anyone experienced this with Coker?

    Regards.

Get your money back or try another set. Out of round or twisted treads wil NOT work in. Many Coker customers, as well as other brands, have this problem.

I just received and installed a set of Cokers. I have a shimmy above 55. I had them rebalanced and have the same problem. Were yours speed sensitive?

Have you tried spinning your bare wheels (dismounted tires) at high speed? I had a muscle car a few years ago pull the same wobble, and after two sets of new tires, tracked it down to a slight bend in one wheel on the front, that the new tire tread seemed to exagerate. Just a thought.

If you decide to start over. Try Diamond Backs. Put a set of redline 215/70R 15 on my 67 Chevelle SS 396 ragtop. Rides smooth at 80mph with 3:55 rear.

"Coker Classic" radials are famous (infamous?) for being out of round, requiring excessive weight to balance, and having excessive radial runout/road force variation. They're made in old segmented Michelin molds in Mexico. I'd send them back and get some REAL tires made in a modern, high-volume tire plant. Diamond Back can get you just about anything you want.

Diamond Back Classic Tires is an online tire shop that creates custom tires for classic cars. Diamond Back creates white wall tires, redline tires, blueline tires, goldline tires and other vintage tires for pre-1976 vehicles including Corvettes, Mustangs, prewar cars, postwar cars, European cars and more.

I would agree with all the statements regarding Coker tires - in addition, every one that has been driven to any significant degree has either cracked a sidewall or separated a tread. If your intention is to trailer and show the car it seems that the Cokers are sufficient. If your intention is to actually drive the car other brands should be looked at. After using the Diamondback Classics for years on several different classic and modern cars, they are hard to beat.

I purchased Diamondback gold lines for my 65 and red lines for my 68. No vibration or shimmy with either set. I have heard alot about the problems with Coker.

I have a set of Coker "Redline" tires on my 66 & I noticed the ride is not as smooth as it was when I had Diamondback tires on it.
