The wiper replacements I purchased are silver-stainless color--the part that holds the blade. My original blade is held by a metal piece that is flat black in color. Which is correct? I can just put the new rubber in the black metal piece. Thanks

Re: 1971 wiper blade replacements
The number of ribs is called out in the 1970-72 TIM&JG which I don't have with me at work. I would hate to give you the wrong number, so if no one comes up with it sooner I'll get it for you tonight. I would guess it is two, but it is best to consult the source.
I haven't a clue what the patent numbers should be. I can't read those small numbers without a good scope, and the guys who regularly judge C3 exterior are not frequent posters here. My bet is if you have any patent numbers on the rubber you will be OK. We are all (well most of us, anyway) of that age when eyesight is one of the things that go.Terry- Top

Re: 1971 wiper blade replacements
And, the 'rail' that holds the refill rubber was black as well as the underside surfaces of the blade holder. That's why the text in the JG reads to the effect of the wiper arm/blades having NO non-blacked surfaces....- Top

Re: 1971 wiper blade replacements
Paul - the Judging Guide calls for two ribs.
I bought some inserts on ebay a while back that seemed pretty close, and they received no deductions at the National. But they appear to have three ribs to me, or maybe what I'm counting as a rib isn't?
Anyhoo, the patent wording/numbers on mine (as best as I can read them) are:
"one or more patents 2543383, 2687544, 2697241, 2766474, 2834976, BR, 683375, 702899, 702900, 702849 CAN. 52,55,58 patent pend."Attached Files- Top
