Been following with interest as my car is in Massachusetts also. Now realize that MA only allows year-of-manufacture plates as a substitute for "antique" plates, not for regular plates. "Antique" plates severely limit the amount you can drive. This information is buried in the year-of-manufacture form one of the other posters provided the link for.

Additionally, there is no dated 1968 plate for MA. A web search taught me that from 1967 to 1969 there are no dated plates in MA. In 1968, the MASSACHUSETTS across the top was flat, and not punched as it was in 1967. Additionally, the 1968 plates had a letter prefix.

If you are in Massachusetts and own a 1967 thru 1973 antique car you can use a Mass. reflector plate with blue letters. Same plate for all those years. I've used mine on a 67 camaro and 70 and 71 Corvettes.

In CA you can pay up to $250 for a nice matched set, since you need both of them to register with the DMV. A single plate is like $20.

Massachusetts RMV . allows one plate But there are the same vehicle usage resrtictionS as a antique plate , parades, weekends , limited use.... I will forget about YOM plate ......think will get some type of vanity plate

In Massachusetts the same plate is used from 1967 to 1973. It is reflector backround with blue letters. Massachusetts spelled out on top. The good news is they are for 6 subsequent years. The bad news is the reflector backround is near impossible to restore so you will need one nice original with a number that is not yet used on any YOM plate.

Michigan does the same thing.
However, I have friends who are policemen, and they've all told me that they have FAR better things than to pull over an old car to determine whether they are driving their car according to the letter of this law. In fact, one of them drives an old Corvette with YOM plates on a regular basis.

I would not worry about using YOM plates and driving your Corvette.
