Can anyone fill me in on the market for 66 hubcaps? Is anybody reproducing them? I have what I believe is an NOS set that is perfect in every way including the proper rough paint with fuzzy borders, etc. My car came with repro knock-offs but also included this set of "NOS " caps. They are not in GM boxes and there are no numbers of stickers. If repros are being made how can I tell them from original caps? What is a set of NOS 66 caps worth? Thanks for any help.

Re: 66 Hubcaps
I'm not aware of any repro 66 caps being made. You can disassemble the spinners and look for numbers on the backside of the spinner and spacer. Spinner Assembly #3876544 & #3876545, the word "General" and the spacer is #3876548 on originals.- Top

Re: 66 Hubcaps
After taking my '66 hubcaps off for disassembly and cleaning, I found a part number that appears to be stamped (black paint/ink) on the back of one of the covers. I am not sure if this was a typical stamping since it was only found on one of the four covers. I don't know if this will help you to decide if they were original to the car or are NOS.- Top

Re: 66 Hubcaps
A few years ago I got 4 "ok" ones off e-bay for $100. Painted them with the spray paint from LICS and bought new center caps. Now they are a little more "OK"
Suggest watching E-Bay as they usually show up and you can get a good idea what people will pay.

Re: 66 Hubcaps
Reproduction efforts are typically dictated by supply and demand as the GM license isn't cheap. For '66 wheel covers, used originals are pretty abundant as that was considered the service replacement for '65 and '66 car and they were available for a pretty long time via service channels. It's the one-year only '65 version of the wheel cover that's hard to find in decent used condition and those ARE being reproduced now...- Top

Re: 66 Hubcaps
There are no '66 reproductions out there as far as I can tell. I bought a set of originals on e-bay for $275 last year. They were in pretty good shape, but not good enough for judging. I ended up having them professionally polished (with ding removal) at $100 a pop. I also had to replace the pitted spinners and repaint the hubcaps with LIC paint. Not a very economical move on my part, considering that I saw high quality refurbished sets at Carlisle last year for $600. The prices still astound me, but they are what they are (as long as there's a market...). Good luck.- Top
