    Trailing Arms

I have been given two NOS trailing arms LH and RH from the previous owner, after 4 years his son found them and gave them to me. The LF one still has the GM tag on it with the part # 14035663, The RH has a tag but the label must have fallen off along the way. I have a 63 coup that badly needed replacement witch I have done, so I intend to put them on E-bay. These are obviously not for a 63 but for a later model. The last owner had a stroke three months after he purchase the car from the original owner in 1990. I purchased the car in 2004; it had not been driven till I purchased it. Can anyone identify what year these trailing arms belong to?

Assuming that the other arm which lacks the tag is GM #14035664 (which is extremely likely), these arms were originally used for 1982 Corvettes. However, they soon thereafter became the SERVICE trailing arms for all 1963-81 Corvettes as well as, of course, 1982.

The differences between these arms and earlier arms are very minor. Primarily, it involves the installation and/or placement of the parking brake cable bracket which changed for the 1978 model year (due to the wider 255-60-15 tires used for some 1978-82). Also, for the 1982 model year, 4 small holes were added around the rear hole through which the bearing support mounts. These holes are located at 90 degree spacings and are for the self-tapping screws used to retain the u-joint shields used for the 1982 model year only. These holes can easily be filled if the bother someone.

The arms can be used for any 1965-82 with no problem, at all, They can also be used for 63-64, but the parking brake cable bracket may be removed.
