    4360 Fuel Injection

Are there any tricks to adjusting the cold enrichment system to get the car to warm up properly?
I think I have it fairly well adjusted at this time but wondered if anyone has any other suggestions or tricks of the trade.
The cold enrichment system is a single piston type and is not covered in the ST-12. The ST-12 talks about the "older enrichment system" but it is the newer 2 valve type.
    Any help will be appreciated.

In the 4360 unit (and other early FI units), cold enrichment is either on or off, there is no gradual reduction in enrichment as the engine warms. The maddening thing is that if you adjust the position of the Bakelite cover so the engine sees a proper mixture when it first starts, it will be excessively rich long before cold enrichment turns off.

What I do with my FI units is to disable the portion of the mechanism that enrichens the mixture but I keep active the mechanism that gives the fast idle.

I've tested this modification down to 40F and haven't noticed any problems. When the engine is cold, I do let the engine run for a few seconds on the fast idle before I drive off, but this is just good practice anyway.

If you are happy with the way you've got the cold enrichment mechanism adjusted on your 4360 unit, you probably would want to just leave it alone and not try what I've done to my units (none of which are 4360s, BTW).

    Good luck,

    Jim
