C2 door alignmant

Having trouble with the doors on a roadster. the bottom of the passenger door is out about 1\8th of an inch. The fit is good everywhere else. It was not like that before. I've had them that need to come out before but not where they need to go in. No work has been done on the door and no shims in bottom and one on top.

Any suggestions.

Is it the front or the back of the door? My 64 roadster was out at the front top of the driver's door. I had to remove the door and grind/shave the mounting surface where the hinge mounts to the door. I removed at least a 1/4" of material from the hinge surface.

Pulling the door leading edge in

A Corvette master in Upland CA showed me how to deal with a door sitting a little bit above flush on my '65, with no shims installed. It's actually kind of counter-intuitive.
What you do: shim the rear 2 bolts only with u-shims.

This works for fine-tuning, but it won't correct a 1/4" problem. Anyone else out there used this approach? Wayne W?

Did you mix up the hinges? If the door fit before and you didn't do significant bodywork then it should fit again. Try moving the hinges to different locations. You may find that you'll need to shim appropriately at the other locations. Not all hinges are EXACTLY the same..... I had a similiar problem, except I only had to determine the shim count. Kept track of the shim count when I disassembled but lost track of the hinge location... not good

We are at Carlisle and this is going to show up as Jim Gregg, but this method can be used for fine tuning, but I seldom use it. Wayne
