    67 L71 Holley choke plate

Have replaced the center carb recently and cold starting is a problem because the choke plate doesn't move freely enough to allow the thermostatic choke spring to close the choke plate. I can easily move the plate by hand but there's too much friction in the shaft and pins that hold it in place for the choke spring to overcome. I don't see a way to make any adjustments so is this something that will improve with wear or have I missed something?

    Tom,

Try to lubricate with wd 40 and see if that will loosen it some.

loosen the screws and close the choke, then tighten the screws while holding the choke closed.

        Clem,

Which screws are you referring to?

If you do try repositioning of the choke plate as Clem suggests, be careful you don't try to loosen them too much as the screws are usually staked on the ends and are easy to break if you try to force them. Then you will have a problem! Been there, done that. Bad news, specially with throttle plates.
