C2 Distributor Bushing Replacement

Hi All;

I've started on rebuilding a distributor from my 1963.. Have all the parts which I want to replace on hand. I have everything apart and now need to remove the old bushings from the housing. I also have access to a shop press.

Question... What do you use to press the old ones out???

Second question... When pressing the new ones in, it would appear to me that the bottom goes in first and winds up flush with the base of the housing and then the top is pressed in... assuming to a stop of sorts in the housing.

The upper bushing does not always need to be replaced. Are you prepared to ream the new installed bushing to size? Here is an article published by an expert rebuilder.

Knock the lower one out using the old shaft (assuming you are replacing it) - just drop a washer through the tach drive hole which is just under size of lower bushing, then drive it off using old shaft.
