My '61 is Roman Red with red interior. Someone at Carslile said the interior paint color is different than the exterior, supposedly has more orange in the paint. Does anyone know if this is correct, and if so, what is the paint code for the red interior? Where can I find it?

Re: '61 Interior Paint color
I always thought that the exterior color and the interior color was the same paint, with the exterior paint buffed to a higher gloss. Note the numbers from the chart attached. The chart is from Floyd Clymers 1955-1962 Corvette book.Ray Carney

Re: '61 Interior Paint color
I've seen differences (interior vs. exterior blend codes) based on the source(s) of information. Note in the Clymers chart that's posted, there IS a blend code difference for Roman Red, Exterior and Red, Interior when it comes to DuPont paint. Why?
Plus, every now and then the archives at www.autocolorlibrary.com provide more than just the exterior color chips + blend codes for a given make/model/year and show us 'page two' data.
The 'page two' information typically provides interior color codes, where used, and specific gloss factor(s). The later, gloss factor, tells the painter how to 'cut' the paint with thinner/additive to duplicate factory original reflective characteristics.
Surprizingly enough, on those 'hits' in the library data base where there is page two information, we almost always see differences listed between Corvette and Chevy passenger cars for the interior paint blend codes as well as their gloss factors!
Unfortunately, the library's data base doesn't offer 'page two' information for 1960-62. You have to go back to 1959 for it and the gloss factor(s) for interior paints are NOT called out. The first full listing in the data base happens in 1963...- Top

Re: '61 Interior Paint color
Richard;
This was the only paint chart in the book. The "Corvette Black Book" list Roman Red for the 1962, 1961, 1960 and 1959. The chart provides information for Roman Red 1960 and I believe it would be the same for 1961. Maybe someone will chime in and confirm.
