    New Member - Restoration Questions

Hi all: I'm a brand new member. Have a 1964 Roadster. Car will never be a show car, but I enjoy driving it. I finally have a place where I can keep the car and work on it. The car needs a pretty good amount of work (mechanical - body is in good condition.) It is in driveable condition, but I would like to make sure it is in good mechanical condition. Any and all advice, including what manuals to buy, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Start your support library for 'baby' with the following publications:

    (1) NCRS Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide, 1963-64: (What do judges look for in terms of factory authenticity + how are critical parts marked/dated?)

    (2) The 1963 Corvette Shop Manual + the 1964 Supplement: (What did Chevy tell dealership mechanics about repair and maintenance?).

Both of these publications are available to NCRS members at a discount via the NCRS merchandise center in Cincinnatti ('Store' button on this web site).

That forms a minimum library. There are quite a few other books & publications that provide more information which you might consider adding to your library, but that's a personal decision based on how seriously you contract the restoration/preservation 'bug'...

      I'd also add:

      1964 Corvette Assembly Instruction Manual

Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide, Vol. II (1963-67) by Noland Adams

      1964 Corvette Owner's Manual

All are available at the "NCRS Store" button.

Great advice from the others. You'll also find some of the vendor catalogs very useful for parts pictures and diagrams. Long Island Corvette is very good for this. Also Mid America, Corvette America and Corvette Central are pretty good.

Of course you have to keep posted on this discussion board. It is invaluable for those of us learning how to deal with issues on our beloved cars.
