C2 underlayment

I'm in process of preparing the interior of my 65 conv for underlayment. Would like to put in a product called The Insulator. Was going to order the single ply, but maybe the 2 ply would be better at the firewall,trans tunnel and over the exhaust areas. Should the foam side go down first on the single ply ?? Has anyone used this product? Found it advertised on website :aircraftspruce.com . Reasonable price.

Ernest,

When you use the underlayment, decide on whether you are going to have the car judged. If the extra thickness is detectable, you will lose some points. If you are not going to do the judging, I'd use as much of the stuff as you can. I have the single under my seats and carpet and it seems to do fine. I think that the metal reflective side goes up.

Bob, Thanks for your feedback. I've finished off the back portion of the car,using the single sided, which was easy to cut up with special scissors. I started to install some double sided in the front floor. It's tougher to cut, so you have to take your time. I'm wondering if I line the trans tunnel with this material, will it allow the console to fit properly ?

Ernie,

As thin as this stuff is, it will probably fit, but you might want to do a quick, non-glue check by just putting some down, putting a piece of carpet down and then see how the console does.
