    mechanical choke question

i use the holley 1850 carb with mechanical choke. i also use the k&m air filter with the drop configuration so i don't push anything through the hood. i notice that when i remove the air cleaner the choke plate is always a little closed, covering about 10-15% of the opening over the venturies. this happens even thought the choke cable is pushed all the way in. i have checked the cable function with the air cleaner off, and the choke plate opens and closes correctly and completely. i am stumped. any suggestions??

    Re: mechanical choke question

To see if the air cleaner is interfering with the operation of the choke, operate the choke cable with only the air cleaner base installed. See if the choke cable moves the air cleaner base.
