Not all 55 owners realize the V8 Dist original ROTOR was different then the ones seen today. It was designed to help remove radio static.
They can also be used in 56-57 to do the same thing. Don't look under the word Corvette ,Olds,Buick 53-55 and Chevy also used the same rotor and is cheaper and easy to locate or buy.

Roy -- thought viewers might like to see a close-up of that original '55 rotor. Looks like some sort of resistor between the brass button contact and the copper (?) tip. Must have been expensive to manufacture.

Can't find the older 1917249 # in any of my books going back to 1962. Was it discontinued before that ? Is the part # on the box of the replacement D-403 # 1927393 ? [It's partially hidden in your pic].

Got this rotor on eBay in a lot of 40 small boxes of Delco ignition and gen./alt. stuff.

The rotor has long been discontinued, it's a piece of carbon that helps reduce static. The rotor is for a V8 not a 6. Like I said easy to find under Olds or Buick , Corvette people mostly don't know or are concerned if a part is not judged.
