For whichever side of the fence you are on, concerning parts shopping on eBay, there is a significant announced change coming to the auction site eBay, late next month. Ebay has announced that effective "late October" they will no longer allow payment via a mailed check or money order for eBay auction wins. Cars, such as any year of Corvette, are excluded from this policy change, but other types of auctions, such as vintage car parts, will be affected by the change.
What this means, is, sometime in late October, a bidder winning an auction, or taking a "buy-it-now" purchase of virtually all items on eBay auctions (except cars) will have to pay by using a PayPal account, or the seller will have to have a credit card merchant account. It will be paperless payment only. Sellers will not be allowed to offer payment via a check or money order, and according to eBay management, any seller caught accepting checks or money order, will be subject to suspension.
Some may feel this is no big deal, but I can promise you, that many, many vintage car parts sellers will leave the eBay marketplace. Some will stay of course, as some eBay sellers do not mind paying the stiff PayPal seller account fees, but I have already talked to several who will in fact stop listing parts on eBay on November 1st.
8.75 billion (with a "b") dollar annual revenues, and roughly 2 billion dollar annual income.
