    2000 Convertible purchase on Sunday?

I have a friend who is going to purchase a 2000 convertible on Sunday if the car checks out ok when viewed. It has around 117,000 miles on it and a good set of tires W/ a new soft top recently put on. It is loaded with most options includind HUD. He would be the third owner if he purchases it. The owner is asking $17,000 for the car. The paint and interior look very good in the photos. I will go with him to view the car, I have very limited knowledge on these newer Corvettes, I'm a 70's guy
Is there anything I should help him look out for on a 2000 convertible?
    Thanks guys!

That's a LOT of miles, IMHO.

You can get a CarFax report on these "newer" cars. I'd do that.

Cost? I don't follow the market.

I sold my 2000 loaded Millenium Yellow convertible about 2 years ago with 30K miles. Sold it for about 27K back then.

If the car has been maintained properly the car should have alot of miles left in it. However, there are alot of lower mile examples for a couple of grand more that would make more sense to me. There are some screaming deals right now in the C5 market. With that mileage and that price that is not one of them in my opinion.

Just passed on a 2003 50yr Anniversary 20K miles for $28,000, yes in perfect condition. (no room at Inn). The C5 prices are moving down at a fast rate when one considers that GM (dealers) are discounting $10K + on some new C6's Now I'm not saying such deals can be had every day, but a price close to that should be looked for (+/- 5K)

I have an 04 coupe with 28K and looking for a trade for an 08 or 09 and have been offered as low as 20k. My car just has highway miles driving to NCRS events and the car is like new and never had any paint or body damage. With the big discounts off on the new ones they all drop fast.
I would look for lower mileage at near the same price.

Thanks guys.........I've been away from the computer.
This will be his first Corvette and I do want him not to get stuck if possible. I'm into C3's don't know much about C5's. He has got the fever to own a late model convertible and asked me to go with him. The seller is telling him a local dealer has offered $17,000 for the car. The seller doesn't want to see the car go to a dealer and has offered the car to my friend for that price. My friend will drive the car less than 2000 per year he says. At that number of miles the tires and the car will last him a decade if he keeps it. I'll let him know what was said here. Thanks everyone for the input.
