Re: WOW!...My miles this summer on my DRIVER

I figure I put 2500 to 3000 miles a season on my car. On Labor Day I drove to a friends cottage, spent the day, had dinner and then drove home. Total miles : 200.
As Jerry Fuccillo always says when closing: HAVING FUN!!!

PS I might drive it to next years National in San Jose as my son lives about 45 milrs away.

      Hey Guys,
I am a newbie. Just joined.
I have been waiting 46 years for a mid year. Just got my 63 vert 2 months ago and have put 1,300 miles on her already. I live in the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mts. of Western NC and the Blue Ridge Parkway is quite close. 45 MPH , no commercial traffic, wildlife , breathtaking views. Also great back roads and of course the inhfamous " Tail of The Dragon"
Hope to cruise some with a local chapter next year.
Will be asking a few questions later , after I get the hang of this forum.
      Thanks so much
      Jeff

        Hi Kevin,
I'm glad to hear that someone else just sits in the garage and looks sometimes. For me it's memories, too. My wife and I revived what had been a high school romance the Summer it was new.
        Regards,
        Alan

My baby is an LS5 coupe with 86K on it so I am "over the hill" already. 82k of that came from driving it with my wife all over this great country when we were young. Remember "See the USA in your Chevrolet" we did.

Now its all redone and pretty.... a weekend driver to shows and fund raiser events. I too look at her in the garage and marvel at how after all the years, the damn thing looks better than me!

            JEFF-
Welcome aboard. You're going to dig this board and all that are involved. We got some great people out there and all are full of an awful lot of knowledge. Glad to hear about someone else out enjoying their baby!

I've put about 1500 miles on our 67 327/300 4 spd. A/C coupe so far this season, if the weather holds up I'm sure we'll do another 1000 or so. Yes I drive this 5 X Top Flight car.

                    Marty,

I rather enjoy this car. It came to Ontario, Canada last April from the Southern USA. Nice solid, salt-free frame and birdcage.

It needed some minor mechanical work that has now been done. For example, the heater core (it has A/C) went bad in June and that job was cruel and unusual punishment. At the moment I'm creating a new seat pair from the frames up. The current seats are rather funky and sunfaded. But I've enjoyed it very much.

I had the bottom frame, aftermarket reinforcement plates welded on yesterday to correct the weak area that is prone to cracking.

                      Marty,

Having grown up in Glenview - I can relate to the surprise that the weather has been nice enough to even drive with the top down. The weather is why I moved to So. Cal 30 years ago.

As for my mileage - about 1K per year / per car.

Our "driving season" generally runs from January 1st to about December 31st.

Enjoy it while you can - winter will start any day now!

I've put a little over a 1000+ miles on mine!!!! Been great. Mountains of Virginia and West Virginia into southern Ohio was the best so far this summer. Early Sunday morning (no traffic) after a nice mountain rain during the night - great cool breezes with the top down. I'm telling ya, you're missing out by not driving them!!!

Good going Charlie, but I have you beat - almost 1000. On a 65 365HP Top Flight. I was going to take her to the national, but had to cancel. Two more months of driving up here in Mass. Top might have to go up next month.

Does this bring up any fond memories?

Boy! This thread has really turned into a "passing" contest. That's ok. I, for one, love to hear stories/reports of how fellow members are enjoying their Vettes. I can identify with each and every one.

Bill, sorry you missed St. Charles. We had a great time. Did you mean "...almost 10,000." rather than "...almost 1000." ?

                                Best regards,
